How do “tox” and fillers differ?

They are quite different. Botox was the first “tox” developed for cosmetic use, but today, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau, commonly referred to as NewTox at Avante Laser &Medispa.

Tox treatments are tiny injections into specific muscle groups primarily of the face, used to relax the muscle. When the muscle is relaxed, wrinkles significantly improve or disappear. These formulations usually show results within three days to two weeks and typically last three to six months, depending on how your body metabolizes the product. Fillers, on the other hand, are used to filling areas of the face that lose volume over time, such as the temples, cheeks, smile lines, and lips. Results are immediate and usually last six to twelve months.

Together, tox and fillers are the bread and butter of aesthetics, providing outstanding rejuvenation with zero downtime. During your consultation at Avante, we review your medical history, answer your questions, and present your options in detail.

What is the best age to begin treatments?

Our body’s natural collagen production begins to slow as early as our twenties. There can be significant lines, wrinkles, and volume loss in our face by our thirties and forties. Typically, the best age to begin treatments is our late twenties to early thirties, when changes become apparent.

What are the benefits?

Short-term benefits of tox and fillers include a nonsurgical rejuvenating effect to the face providing a youthful, rested appearance. There is an overall softening and relaxed appearance to the face, providing patients with new-found confidence. Long-term, these treatments can prevent further aging.

What are the latest trends?

Tox and fillers have evolved, and we now have a variety of options for both. In the past, the primary focus was on the nasolabial folds, but now, we are instead adding fillers to the upper face to lift and add volume to combat Father Time’s curse of sag from our foreheads to our legs. As we age, our once round cheeks flatten, and our lips thin. We can recapture that youthful appearance nonsurgically with these remarkable fillers with little to no downtime and immediate results. Lip enhancement to achieve that desirable “pout,” complemented by a defined jawline, is in high demand, and there is also major buzz over vampire injections. This is a procedure where your blood is drawn, spun down, and the platelet-rich plasma is separated then injected in the face along with a filler such as Juvederm. This process helps produce collagen that is lost through aging, with the filler providing an instant lift.

What is the cost of fillers and tox?

You will find a range of pricing across providers due to your injector's expertise, location, and other factors. Tox injections are usually priced per unit, the final price dependent on the necessary quantity. Typical tox pricing is between $10 to $15 per unit. Fillers can range between $550 to $850 per syringe.
